"It comes as a real shock to find out that you speak fluent cow." - Declan, Leap Year

Hallooooo!

Leap Year is just what you'd expect from a rom com. It hits all the stops along the way to a happy ending. Not the best work of either Amy or Matthew, but they are terrific nonetheless, which is saying something.

There is no point beating around the bush: Leap Year is a class A romantic comedy.  This post is marked as ** spoilers **, but it is unnecessary really. You know from the first minute how it is going to end. And yet, you keep watching. Well, I did anyway. Without missing one beat, you are lead through the standard rom com story telling: woman in seemingly happy relationship, she meets a stranger, goes on a journey of some sort and goes through a change, falls for the stranger and realises her current relationship isn't what she needs and ends up with the new guy.

Director Anand Tucker did an excellent job. The score in line with the scenery makes you just want to travel to Ireland! That is where my next holiday is going to anyway. I'm well aware that certain locations (such as the Ballycarbery Castle in the movie) are digitally enhanced, but that is not going to stop me. You can say what you like about rom coms, but they can take you to the most spectacular locations. Script was nothing out of the ordinary, but the actors made them work.

As for the acting, as mentioned earlier, it is neither of the main characters best work. Don't get me wrong: they're both brilliant. Matthew's accent is to the untrained ear very convincing and you just admire Amy's character's determination to get to Dublin, walking in heels. But compare this movie against an Arrival or the Imitation Game and you'll see what I mean :)

It is a very enjoyable watch, with only a couple of cringy moments (read: "you're a beast") and one hell of a wedding speech. Perfect to see after a long day and you just want to curl up on the sofa with a duvet and a cup of tea. Feel good feeling guaranteed.

That my little 'review' on Leap Year^^ I'll just leave the trailer for you here:

Let me know what you think of the film!

Thanks for reading!
