The Theory of Everything and afternoon tea

Halloooooo!!

With a little delay, here is the blog post at last. I am not sure if I'll be able to upload a blog post every week now, as  I don't have any internet at home and I can't write blog post at work now can I?

Anyway, yet another quite weekend and week. And I need it. For some reason, there is more noise in the house and it either keeps me awake or wakes me up before my alarm clock goes off. Or maybe I've just became really aware of every single noise in the house.

Afternoon tea with Jeroen and Tine
On Saturday I did the usual tidying of my room, cleaned the bathroom, did some grocery shopping, etc. My brother and his girlfriend were in London for a few days so we met up at Richoux for an afternoon tea. Let me tell you it was delicious :) Although it is called 'afternoon' tea, when you meet at 5pm, that afternoon tea is also your dinner x)

Jeroen en Tine their first afternoon tea ^^

I did also some Cath Kidston shopping. Yes, I confess. But can you blame me when there was a sale going on? I bought a mug. A mug I saw a while back, and, well, now that it was on sale (and the last one) I just had to buy it. It has freaking giraffes on it!! And I also bought something for a friend on request. We don't have a Cath Kidston store in Belgium, so I am the one who's providing everyone back home with the goods ;)

Sunday 10h30 the Theory of Everything
Because I liked my cinema visit to Vue Croydon so much last week (to see Into The Woods), I simply did it again this week. I went to see the Theory of Everything. Just like last week, I stopped by Costa for breakfast and to read in Paper Towns :)

I even sat in the same theatre (3) and almost in the same chair as last week! :)

It's based on the book Stephen Hawking's first wife, Jane, wrote about her life with Stephen. Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones give an incredible performance. I mean, it's nominated for 5 Academy Awards: best motion picture of the year, best performance of an actor in leading role, best performance of an actress in leading role, best writing/screenplay based on material previously produced or published and best achievement in music written for motion pictures.

And now I'm on the subject of Acadamy Awards 2015: when I see all the nominees, I can't belief what a strong year it's been. How to train your dragon 2, the Imitation Game, the Theory of Everything, the Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies, Into the Woods, X-men: days of future past, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Captain America: winter soldier, Gone girl, ... And these are just a fraction of all the movies that are nominated in one or more categories. Can't wait 'til 22nd February!

Monday to Friday
Was pretty uneventful. I survived my 3th week at work, finished reading Paper Towns and started reading in City of Heavenly Fire. Everyone is impressed by its size (more than 700p), but it's hardly anything to be impressed about. Big font, large margins,... I bet that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix would be the same amount pages if it had the same layout. And if you look at the Lord of the Rings, this one is just tiny x)

I've also started the search for a new room. Living with 7 male tenants is getting pretty difficult and not all of them are as clean or quiet. Unfortunately. You can also hear everything in the house, so I think it might be nicer if I could find something with less tenants. Anyway, it's not gonna happen any time soon I'm afraid.

Well, that's it for this week's update :)

Thanks for reading!

Into the Woods and a pretty crappy week

Halloooo

Second week of 2015 living in London. Second week at my job. Second week back in the crazy house I've been living for the past 6 months.

Saturday cleaning and tidying
It was pretty boring. Just tidying my room and cleaning the house. Was pretty useless because 3days later is was just as dirty as 3 days before and nobody seems to bother to clean. On Saturday I also ventured out to buy a mixing bowl, spatula and ladle. Very exciting stuff, as you can tell. I also started reading in Paper Towns by John Green (same writer as the Fault in our Stars)

Into the woods at 11am on Sunday.
That's right. I went to Croydon Sunday morning. First to have some breakfast at Costa and read in the book Paper Towns. I'm reading that book in between my book series of the Mortal Instruments because it's for work :) Anyway, at 11am I was seated at Vue Croydon to see the movie Into the Woods. I recommend it, but I'd say it's not necessary to watch it on a big screen. The cast is GREAT (Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, James Corden, etc), beautiful songs, beautifully sang, amazing set, etc. But at one point I thought it was going to end, but then it didn't so mentally I had to reprogramme myself. And even though it was great (beautiful ending) it wasn't neccesarry for me. But overall I'd recommend it :)

In the afternoon I made use of my new mixer, mixing bowl, spatula and ladle :) PANCAKES (or, well, crepes...). I also had a long chat with my neighbour (the one living with his son) and he was complaining, as usual, but now also about some tenants not paying gas and electricity, like they should. Or they do not recycle and clean, like they should. Pretty frustrating. I also learned that he has 6 sons and 5 grandchilrden. And a 6th is on the way. It was nice to see him talk about something without complaining :)

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
Overall I had a pretty crappy week. Yes, that for my second week at my very exciting new job. On Monday and Tuesday, the trains where delayed. I couldn't sit down on the train into town. And for the entire week London Victoria underground was overflowing with people. So the two times I took a few trains later and therefor had to take the metro in order to be on time in the office, I couldn't. Which meant I was late twice this week -.-

And also, my neighbour's son, 15yr old, woke me up on Tuesday evening by slamming kitchen cupboards and pots and pans like it was 3 in the afternoon on a Saturday, but now at midnight. And you can hear everything in the house. So for about half an hour he was making a lot of noice so I couldn't fall back a sleep again. And by the time he was done in the kitchen I was wide awake til 3am. Frustrations frustrations.

But Thursday evening made up for a lot of the crappiness. Someone from the Design team left the office and had a goodbye party on Thursday. I had a blast :)

This is like bowling, but then with golf x)
Friday was a better day, but I was also glad it was weekend :)

So, that's my second week of 2015 back in London :)

First week, playlists and movies

Halloooo!!

I hope everyone is adjusting well after the holidays. Whether you are going to school, have exames or are working.

To summarize this week: I've started working, I have a new playlist and I've been watching plenty of films :)

Survived my first week at my first job.
An actual employee. No intern, no extra help. As an actual part of a team.

Everyone kept asking how it was to be back. My honest answer was: weird. I'd never thought I'd be back. I link that office to a periode of my life. The last few months of university. It hasn't really hit me yet that this is 'for real'. That it's not for just 3 months, but for at least a year. That, if they are discussing movie titles with release dates in November, that I'll actually still be around. It's also like I never left, everything is so familiar, but at the same time everything is so different.

The office is still as awesome as ever, but a few changes have been made. Captain America is moved to the board room and is now standing next to Iron Man. In the kitchen and on the stairwell you can hear soundtracks of all various films. From Disney to Indiana Jones to the Lord of the Rings. I love it :)

Monday, after my first day, I treated myself on a Costa hot chocolate and went to my favorite spot to read. That is also how I ended my week :)

Start new playlist for 2015
As some of you know I have playlists on my iTunes for different periods in my life. I have one for each year in uni and one for every summer since 2010. So obviously I started a new one for 2015. Here are a few songs:

Jonsi - Where no one goes

On Sunday I saw How to train your dragon 2 for the first time. And I can't imagine why I waited so long to see it. I mean, I loved the first one, why wait to see a sequel? And let me tell you, the sequel is even better. And it doesn't happen often that a sequel is better than the first! I saw the movie twice this week...

Jonsi - Around us

Adam Barnes - Old shoes

George Ezra - Listen to the man (Ian McKellen!!!!)

Up by Olly Murs fr Demi Lovato is also on the list. Of course, this list will grow as the weeks of 2015 pass by :)

Movies I've been watching
Hotel Transylvania, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, Imagen me and you, How to train your dragon and How to train your dragon 2 (twice).

That's if for this week :) Thanks for reading!

'Best of' Sara lives in London 2014 and exciting news for 2015 !!

Hallooooo!!

So, we're officially January 2015. Time to reflect... Well, maybe not reflect, but I've reached some milestones in 2014 :)

- Moving to London
- Starting this blog
- Second internship at RDP Creative, London
- Graduating with a BA Communication Management
- Thirth internship at Media Circus, London
- Ticking off to do's from my "to do in London" list
- Applied for my first job

These were the milestones of 2014. Thanks to everyone who has helped me and supported me. I know I am a ferm believer of "you get what you work for", but you do need help and support! Without you I'm not sure I'd be were I'm now! Thank you!

From left to right: Warner Bros studio tour, Iron Man at RDP, classic picture at telephone box and Elizabeth Tower, Hill Top, graduation :)

These are just 5 pictures of a year with hundreds of pictures and memories. Impossible to select them all, but thank god for Instagram and Blog Archive ;) The videos that I made during 2014 are also such a lovely memory of all the things I've done! To take a trip down memory lane: this is the video I made after my first week in London.

So what's ahead in 2015?
If you know the answer to that, please contact me (or maybe not). As for now, the only thing I know, is that I'll start my first job on Monday 5th January. And that, if everything goes well, I'll be living and working in London a year longer ^^ What happens after that, are worries for 2016 ;)

On that very exciting note, I hope that you all had a very lovely 2014 and I hope that 2015 will be better!
